Allston leaders Onat Ergin and Yusuf Tasyurt were spotted in Istanbul ahead of the NATO summit scheduled to take place in Ankara. Before their packed meeting schedule, the two chose to spend a few days in Istanbul and catch up at their high school's alumni association. They met on Wednesday evening at the Robert College Alumni Association and did not drink alcohol. SEEN TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MAY Onat Ergin, who abruptly returned to Turkey in the first week of May, appeared before the press for the first time that Wednesday with his old friend and colleague Yusuf Tasyurt. After disappearing as soon as finals ended, Ergin became the subject of rumors: "He has family problems," "He lost everything in Bitcoin," and "His sibling at Uskudar American Academy broke up with a partner and he went to provide comfort." Ergin denied these reports and told the Allston Son Dakika team for the first time why he had vanished. "PARMESAN AND MOZZARELLA AREN'T FOR ME" Explaining his disappearance, Ergin pointed to a simple problem behind his sudden return to Turkey. "Parmesan and mozzarella aren't for me," he said. He missed the midnight toasted half-loaf stuffed with sucuk, white cheese, kasar, and Erzincan tulum cheese, and so returned to his homeland, the Republic of Turkey. "IF YUSUF AND I START A STARTUP, WE'LL WIPE THE FLOOR WITH EVERYONE" After Y Combinator announced its summer 2026 investments, press reports claimed that it had invested a billion dollars in two young Turks, or in a startup founded by one Turk and one American, or perhaps that a Frenchman, an Englishman, and Temel had all boarded Y Combinator together. Responding to such stories, Onat Ergin asserted his dominance: "If Yusuf and I start a startup, we'll wipe the floor with everyone." "TWO HUNDRED LIRA FOR PARKING? WHAT THE FUCK?" Ergin left the venue around 11 p.m., saying he had a final-stage Y Combinator interview at 8 the next morning, and got into a verbal dispute with the Bizimtepe parking attendant. When asked for 200 lira, he protested, "Two hundred lira for parking? What the fuck?" The attendant insisted, so Ergin paid, saying, "Take it, then, as if we're in Midtown Manhattan." Turning to reporters afterward, he said, "Even Sidiki Sheriff didn't cost this much. Parking has screwed us. President Aziz, save us," and left.
